Setup, Maintenance and Support for IT Infrastructure
There’s a question that most businesses finding themselves asking, especially start up company’s: Do I really need a real IT Support Team? The answer should always be a loud and resounding yes! It’s undeniable at this point that we live in the digital age. Every business has computers in some way, shape or form be it through a point of sales devices, computers, credit card machines, printers, etc. Somebody must manage them to make sure everything is operational during business, make sure everything is updated and secure! Most of the time, a lot of people try to get by with having someone who is good at computers be their IT person. There is a lot more to IT than simply ‘being good with computers.’ Allow us to provide a few examples of what a real IT team does:
- Internet Related Responsibilities: Should your network go down; the repercussions can be costly. Depending on your industry, we are talking about thousands of dollars per hour lost due to an outage. Not only does the company and its operations require products or services that use the internet, but perhaps your customers require your network to be up as well. Your customers could be affected and lose faith in your company’s ability to provide them with what they need. The IT department must create an emergency plan that can be executed should the system go down. It must be designed to put the network back up quickly or allow it to switch over to an alternate system until the necessary repairs are completed.
- Setup your Infrastructure: There’s a right way and a very wrong way to setup your business. Ranging from creating your network, making sure all your computers communicate with your servers and databases, setting up secure connections, email access, configuring your VoIP phone systems and voice prompts, making sure your employees only have access to content that they need to work via group policies and active directory. Most important is setting your infrastructure up so that you have a disaster recovery plan for your data. Can you say with 100% confidence that if all the devices you have business critical information on become unreachable, that you would be fine? If you had to think about that for more than 5 seconds than that is not a good sign. Your business needs protection, let us help!
- Maintain your Infrastructure: Your IT department must consider the pros and cons to installing the proper hardware and software necessary to keep your business running properly. This includes working on a budget to provide the company with smart long term investments. Paying thousands of dollars for a service you don’t like or can replace next month makes no sense. Networks & Business services can be simple or extremely complex depending on their size and composition. In addition to staying current on trends within business technology, employees may even require college degrees or certification in a computer field to adequately handle the issues that arise in maintaining your business properly.
- Technical Support for Employees: Most people get an IT team to deal with technology related questions and problems they do not know how to handle, which is smart! Large companies have thousands of employees who need laptops & work stations configured, networking, data storage options, antivirus and anti-malware protection, projectors and all the other bells and whistles to ENABLE them to serve the customer. Not only are these services in place to help your employees, but to protect your business from security breaches. It’s incredibly important that both your data and the data of your customers stay safe and secure!
